bow making. Its reddish colour and qualities stem from the minerals and sub-species
found only in the Pernambucoregion
of Brazil, hence its name.Brazilwood (Caesalpinia
Echinata) is of the same botanical species and grows throughout Brazil. This variety
gave itsname
to the country. It is greyish in colour and is used for student bows. Some Asian
producers are describing this asblack
pernambuco.Wood -
Several other woods such as Kojicitzer and Yunxiang are now being successfully
used for student and mediumgrade
bows. These are selected according to availability and are described as wood bows.
